Perfect Patterns
Installation
Step 1. Install a Java Runtime Environment(JRE) for PC's
or Mac Runtime Java(MRJ) for Macs.
If you already have a JRE or MRJ installed on your computer, you may skip
this step. If you are not sure, you may skip this step but may need to come back
later. If you need to install the JRE or MRJ, do the following:
- Use these links to go to a web site where you may download the JRE or MRJ for free:
JRE
NOTE:I do not recommend JRE v1.4 because when it is installed, it makes itself the VM for
Internet Explorer. Certain NWA websites require using the Microsoft VM. Installing the Sun JRE
v1.4 will most likely break your ability to get to these sites.
MRJ
- Run the file you just downloaded to install the JRE or MRJ on your computer.
Step 2. Download the installation file to your computer.
Step 3. Run the installation file.
- A program named Install Anywhere will start.
- At some point during the installation you may be asked to choose which JRE/MRJ you want
to use. If there are none listed or the only choice is JVIEW, abort the installation and go
back and perform step 1 above because you do not have an appropriate JRE/MRJ installed.
- From the list provided choose any JRE/MRJ other than JVIEW.
- The installation should complete successfully.
Step 4. Set up Perfect Patterns.
- Start Perfect Patterns. You may have an icon on your desktop or you may need to select
an item from your Programs menu.
- Perfect Patterns will attempt to locate a couple of key files on your computer. If it is
unable to do so, it will ask you to show it where they are.
Step 5. Update your version to the most current version available. There may
be a newer version available. To check, use your browser's back button and then select the
Update item from that page. Follow the instructions to perform the update.
